Who needs the truth when you have a perfectly good opportunity to insult Liberals?

During a live press conference, Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo revealed that the Las Vegas gunman, Stephen Paddock, may have been “radicalized” and that authorities were attempting to uncover the source of his radicalization. If confirmed, this suggests that there may have been a political motive behind the massacre…. As Infowars reported earlier, according to forensic psychiatrist Dr. Michael Welner suggested that gunman Stephen Paddock may have deliberately targeted conservatives attending a country music concert. Paddock’s family insists that he had no strong political or religious inclinations.

In politics, as in war, truth is often the first casualty. Stephen Paddock’s body wasn’t even cold before Proudly Closed-minded Gun Control Foes © were tossing about conspiracy theories. They couldn’t very well call Paddock a terrorist (he was White, after all)…but that didn’t stop them from claiming he could have been radicalized by ISIS or some other Islamofascist group. That there’s no evidence of that matters not at all to those determined not to let yet another massacre be used to curtail their God-given gun rights.

The idea that Paddock was deliberately targeting Conservatives by firing on a country music concert seems nothing if not a stretch. First, do we really know anything about his political leanings? I’ve heard nothing which would confirm the narrative that he was a rabid, unhinged Liberal with a pathological hatred of Conservatives. It does figure that there’d be a few RWNJs who find a way to make this tragedy about themselves. When your faith and ideology come with compassion as optional equipment, it’s easy to dehumanize those you disagree with. People like Root and Welner are more than willing to run with a minimum of information that supports their preconceived notions.

It’s what you happens when you are far more concerned about a rabidly pro-gun narrative than with the health and well-beings of the victims of yet another senseless massacre.

If you’re getting your news and information from sources like InfoWars, you have bigger problems than you could possibly realize. Because the truth is for losers and Liberals…right??

Personally, I find the ‘classist’ assumption (no matter where it comes from) that all fans of country music are Conservative [i.e. uneducated rednecks] to be bullshit.

Exactly. I’m a confirmed, card-carrying Bleeding Heart Liberal…and I love country music. One of my dreams is to play guitar on stage with Kenny Chesney, Pat Green, and/or Bleu Edmonson. The country music world in aggregate is decidedly Conservative, but to hold that all fans by definition are right of center is absurd.
